2. What should I bring to the test(s)?

YOU MUST BRING:

  •  A PENCIL
  •  AN ERASER
  •  A PHOTO ID (a passport for example)
  •  A bottle of water is also a very good idea

3. What is not allowed in the exam room?

    • You may not use a pen or tippex (this is because the computer that corrects the TOEIC answer sheets will reject anything with ink or tippex)
    • Mobile phones are not allowed in the test room!

4.  What happens if I arrive late?

  • Please be on time. If you arrive after the listening part of the test has begun you will not be allowed in the test room.

5. How long do the sessions last?

  • For the TOEIC Bridge : plan on a minimum of 2 hours
  • For the TOEIC : plan on a minimum of 3 hours
  • Please keep in mind that the tests do not begin immediately. First of all, invigilators must check each student’s photo I.D.
  • Secondly, there are forms that you must fill in . The step by step instructions to fill in the forms are read to you (in French). If you are in a room with 60 people or more these procedures take a lot of time

6. Can I leave the test room as soon as I have finished my test?

  • Toeic and Toeic Bridge regulations state that you may not leave the test room until the official testing time (1 hour for the Bridge and 2 hours for the TOEIC) is up, even if you have completed your test.

7. I’m scheduled to take the TOEIC test in the afternoon but I would prefer to take it in the morning. Can I request a change ?

  • I have had almost 100 students contact me with almost 100 different reasons
Why they ‘prefer the morning to the afternoon’ or vice versa…
(concert tickets ;  plane tickets ; train tickets ; dentist appointments; interviews ; and my personal favorite ‘ but I ‘ve ordered a taxi for 2 o’clock that day ‘ !!)
  • I’m sure you understand that with over 400 students being tested in one day I cannot ” take requests ” .
I’m scheduling students  ‘ alphabetically’ according to last names.
The first part of the alphabet are scheduled in the morning and the second half in the afternoon.
I do not have the exact ‘cut off’ point yet because I’m still waiting for about 30 students to confirm their presence at the TOEIC test.
I will notify you as soon as I know.

8. When will we get our test results?

  • The test results should arrive by mid-July. You will be notified by e-mail when they do. I will send you your ” score reports ” if you won’t be on campus in september to pick them up.
  • For the 2nd and 3rd-year students who want their score reports mailed to them you can address ( in block letters, please !) the envelope that your English teacher will give you in class next week and/or in your ‘TOEIC prep’ classes.
  • Please put your complete postal address on this envelope.
  • For those of you who are not ” on campus ” please send me an e-mail with your complete postal address if you would like to receive your ” score reports ” by mail.

9. How can I prepare for the tests ?

  • For the ” TOEIC Bridge ” there are no specific preparation methods but the LSH Resource Centre ( E103 ) has a wide selection of basic grammar revision books and low-level English methods with cassettes which you can borrow.
  • For the ” TOEIC test ” the resource centre has a lot of preparation material : Previous tests with cassettes, answers, tape scripts etc…as well as preparation books.

10. What should I do if I don’t have enough time to finish the test ?

  • The invigilators will inform you when you have 15 minutes left.
  • Answer all the questions on the test(s)!
  • Points are not taken off for wrong answers.
  • Even if you don’t have any idea what the correct answer is…choose something!

Best of luck to all of you in the tests!
